Stay on top of it! When living with MS, we need to follow Montel William’s advice and stay on top of it! As we are growing beyond grief and accepting our new reality we’ll figure out what we need to do to stay on top of it!
*Learn about available pharmaceuticals and work with your healthcare professionals to decide the treatment plan and medications that will be best for you.
* Eat fresh vegetables and fruits. We all need vitamins and nutrients. Avoid fatty products and junk food. Vitamin A, C and E will help in reducing the oxidative damage caused by free radicals. Include supplements when desired.
*Drink plenty of water. Your body is approximately 70% water. Your vital organs, muscles and skin all need contain water for optimal health. Water also carries oxygen to your cells, provides energy, delivers nutrients, and removes waste.
*Exercise to keep your body fit. Research shows that Yoga has helped many suffering from multiple Sclerosis. So, what if you are on a wheelchair? You can still exercise with the resistance bands. These bands are easy to use and are effective. Exercise will help you feel better and combat depression.
*Sleep regularly. It’s important to pay attention to our own individual needs by assessing how we feel on different amounts of sleep. Consistent sleep daily is very important to keep your body fit and fine.
*Identify your purpose. We all need to realize that there is something that each of us can do. It probably is different than you planned and expected but there is something that you can give back to the community.
As Montel said, when we think of others; turn our misery into the benefit of other people, we stop hurting.
