Repair MS ~ Jan. 2012 Update ~ Montel Williams

Stay on top of it! When living with MS, we need to follow Montel William’s advice and stay on top of it! As we are growing beyond grief and accepting our new reality we’ll figure out what we need to do to stay on top of it!

*Learn about available pharmaceuticals and work with your healthcare professionals to decide the treatment plan and medications that will be best for you.

* Eat fresh vegetables and fruits. We all need vitamins and nutrients. Avoid fatty products and junk food. Vitamin A, C and E will help in reducing the oxidative damage caused by free radicals. Include supplements when desired.

*Drink plenty of water. Your body is approximately 70% water. Your vital organs, muscles and skin all need contain water for optimal health. Water also carries oxygen to your cells, provides energy, delivers nutrients, and removes waste.

*Exercise to keep your body fit. Research shows that Yoga has helped many suffering from multiple Sclerosis. So, what if you are on a wheelchair? You can still exercise with the resistance bands. These bands are easy to use and are effective. Exercise will help you feel better and combat depression.

*Sleep regularly. It’s important to pay attention to our own individual needs by assessing how we feel on different amounts of sleep. Consistent sleep daily is very important to keep your body fit and fine.

*Identify your purpose. We all need to realize that there is something that each of us can do. It probably is different than you planned and expected but there is something that you can give back to the community.

As Montel said, when we think of others; turn our misery into the benefit of other people, we stop hurting.

      Thank you for the comment on the house. We added on about 14 years ago when I didn’t want to stop having kids! Now all but two seniors have grown and gone and I’m ready to downsize. My husband will have none of it ~ he wants a movie theater down stairs!! :)

  4. Aside from exercising with the use of resistance bands, what are other materials patients can use to to exercise as well as other exercises they can do?

    • Candice, you are always one step a head of me! I’m working on getting a personal trainer to partner with me here on MSrelief! I will find someone who specializes in MS who can write info for the site and offer services via webcam. I’m so excited to see what God will provide!

  5. Analysis uncovered overwhelming evidence that routine use of health vitamins such as calcium and folic acid by target groups would dramatically reduce health care costs. Scientists now concur that the occurrence of neural tube defects (NTDs) is reduced if women consume folic acid or a folic acid-containing supplement before they become pregnant, and continue to do so in the early stages of pregnancy. The researchers calculated that “if 10.8 million women began taking 400μg of folic acid on a daily basis, approximately 600 babies would be born without NTDs, savings of as much as $326 million as a result.” Health care costs have risen in parallel with life expectancy. The authors estimated that savings over 5 years resulting from a reduction in the occurrence of coronary heart disease (CHD) among the over age-65 population through daily intake of approximately 1800 mg of omega-3 fatty acids would be $3.1 billion. Similarly the savings made in reduced incidence of age related macular degeneration (ARMD), which often results in the suffer becoming dependent, as a result of lutein and zeaxanthin supplementation would amount to an estimated $2.5 billion over five years. Adult onset diabetes is associated with unhealthy life-styles. This study examined the use of dietary supplements among diabetics; it found that diabetic supplement users report being in better health than non-users.

I should keep this as a reminder. Thanks. That tips are simple but it’s hard to manage. People should prioritize it to get a healthy life.

      I know it took the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis to get me focused on health! This is something that I always took for granted! I mean I said I was grateful, but it’s something that I didn’t realize until my health was gone!

  20. Can you give us an update on Montel Williams MS condition? When he took the Italian treatment he said he would keep us informed and I have not heard anything from him (as he promissed) or the association he represents. I spend hours looking at countless of websites in trying to find out if the treatment by the Italian MD works. Remember he cured his wife. I would truly appreciate a response.
